When it snows a lot here in Massachusetts, the roads become very slippery. Our ward boundaries are so large that we have people that travel approximately 15 to 35 minutes to attend church (our ward boundary is about 35 miles wide, taking in eight towns). Last Sunday and today, because of the snow fall, we have had church canceled. It is fun to do meetings around a roaring fire, with your family surrounding you. It does make for interesting lessons, sometimes there are actual fights during the meeting, which doesn't usually occur during a meeting in a real chapel.

During the past week, the lessons in Seminary have been on the Atonement of Jesus Christ. One of the questions asked that you can ponder is: "With out the Atonement and Crucifixion of Jesus Christ, what would our Sacrament Meetings be like? What would we be doing instead of passing the Sacrament? What would our lessons on faith be like?" I miss not attending Sacrament Meeting in our nice ward house. I miss the association of the other Saints. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate and we will be all together again next week. Ben wrote a talk for Sacrament Meeting today. He will be our main speaker in our home this week.

thats quite a big ward. ours might be somewhat similar in size, but were luckily not getting as much snow as you guys are! i just wish it would get warm enough for it to melt. im sure that thought had crossed your mind a time or two shoveling that gigantic sized driveway!

ill admit i was hoping for a snow day two sundays ago when anthony asked me to talk and i was subbing as primary chorister (for the last time in 3 months). and then i was hoping for another one this sunday when i had to teach in relief society and didnt like the topic. (apostasy). no luck though!

i do understand missing meeting as a ward. makes me wonder what horrible conditions the early saints suffered to get to their meeting houses, and when they got their how well/poorly constructed they were. im grateful for the times we live in.

I am not an early Saint (sometimes not even a good latter-day one) but I can remember that the heating and cooling systems were not that great. I particularly remember the fans in the ceiling that served to cool the air in summer. There was no central air and it was HOT!
